Creating a Symfony2 Bundle

posted in: PHP, Symfony | 0

So for this exercise we are using LTS version of Symfony2, namely 2.3.* (it was 2.3.11 when this was written). Point is just, we need some version of 2.3 🙂

In order to create a bundle with Sumfony2, we first need to create a Symfony project using composer. Find composer installation instructions here: https://getcomposer.org/doc/00-intro.md

After you have composer installed, the following command in the terminal:

  • php composer.phar create-project symfony/framework-standard-edition path/ 2.3.1

If composer was installed globally, use this command:

  • composer create-project symfony/framework-standard-edition path/ 2.3.11

After the creation of the Symfony project is done (which basically installs Symfony) you can create a bundle by using the terminal in the above created project root and run this command and follow the interactive prompts:

php app/console generate:bundle

For more info on this, see http://symfony.com/doc/2.3/bundles/SensioGeneratorBundle/commands/generate_bundle.html
